SafePlate lets you keep a profile per family member with the allergens you’ve added and the severity tier you’ve assigned. When you scan a product, the app shows the ingredients it read and highlights any matches against each profile, so you can decide what to serve. Free, never-paywalled features include the contact-share “SOS” screen, EpiPen expiration reminders, and FDA recall alerts. SafePlate is an informational tool — the manufacturer’s allergen statement remains the source of truth.

Cooking-temperature tips shown in the app are general consumer-education reminders sourced from public USDA guidance — they are not a substitute for using a calibrated food thermometer.

Ingredient text, allergen flags, recall notifications, and restaurant tags are provided for convenience and may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect. Always read the manufacturer’s label and ask the restaurant directly before serving any food to a person with a food allergy. If you suspect an allergic reaction or food-borne illness, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately — SafePlate does not call emergency services on your behalf.
