Discipline Matters is built around the rule that the work you do on yourself should stay yours. Health data, GPS routes, voice journals, and reflections are stored on your device — we never upload them. We don't sell data. We don't run ads. We don't track you across other apps or websites. The only thing that leaves your phone is what we need to authenticate you and (for Coach+ subscribers who tap the AI Briefing) a summarized week of activity sent to Anthropic to generate the briefing.

Account info — your email and display name, when you sign up. Used to authenticate you with Firebase Authentication and sync settings across your devices. We do not see your password (handled by Apple Sign-In, Sign in with Google, or Firebase's hashed-credential flow).
Health & fitness data — sleep stages, workouts, hydration, heart rate, mindful minutes — read from Apple Health only with your explicit permission. Stored locally on your device. We do not upload your raw health data to our servers.
Location — GPS routes during workouts you choose to record. Captured on-device, stored locally. We do not continuously track your location — recording is opt-in per workout.
Voice journal entries — recorded on-device, transcribed on-device via Apple Speech, stored locally. Audio never leaves your phone.
App usage data — anonymous, aggregated information about which tabs and features you use. Sent to Firebase Analytics in non-identifying form to help us improve the product.
Crash diagnostics — anonymous crash logs sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix bugs. No personal data is included.
Subscription status — managed by Apple's StoreKit. We can see whether you have an active Plus or Coach+ subscription. We never see payment details.
If you subscribe to Coach+ and tap the AI Briefing card, a summary of your last seven days of activity (e.g., "5 workouts this week, average sleep 7.2h, longest streak 14 days") is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your personalized briefing. The summary contains aggregate counts only — never raw health values, journal contents, or location data. Anthropic does not train models on this data per their privacy policy. The request is proxied through our Cloud Function so your account ID is the only identifier sent.
All network traffic uses HTTPS / TLS 1.2+. Authentication is handled by Firebase Auth (Google's BAA-eligible auth platform). Firebase App Check protects our backend from credential abuse. We minimize what crosses the network — health data, journal text, and routes never leave your device.
Discipline Matters is rated 4+ but is intended for adult users committed to building disciplined daily routines. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If we make material changes, we will update this page and notify subscribers via in-app notice before the change takes effect.
