Terms of Use

Effective: October 6, 2026

PASSPORT AND ID PHOTOS — READ FIRST. TruScan measures a photograph against published photo specifications and tells you what it measures. It cannot guarantee that any passport office, consulate, visa centre, licensing agency or other authority will accept the result. The issuing authority decides. Always check the current requirements published by the authority you are applying to.
LEGAL AND CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENTS — READ FIRST. TruScan is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure. Before you scan, store or sync legal, privileged or otherwise confidential documents, consult an attorney about whether doing so is appropriate for your situation and how it may affect your confidentiality obligations or any legal privilege. See section 8.

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing or using TruScan (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Use (the “Terms”) and to the TruScan Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is published by Finn Digital LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“Finn Digital,” “we,” “us”).

These Terms incorporate by reference Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”), which applies to your licence to use the App. Where these Terms and the Apple EULA conflict, the more user-protective term controls for that issue.

2. Licence

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the Apple EULA.

3. What TruScan is

TruScan is a document scanner. It captures pages with the camera, finds the page edges, corrects perspective, recognizes text, classifies and names what it scanned, reads passport machine-readable zones, measures passport and ID photographs against published specifications, and exports images and searchable PDFs. Scanning, text recognition and photo measurement run on the device. Cloud sync and AI photo enhancement are optional features you turn on.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

TruScan Pro is available as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual) and as a one-time lifetime purchase. The annual subscription includes a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The current price, billing period and any eligible offer are shown in the App Store and in the app before you buy.

What the free version does, and what Pro adds. Scanning, page detection, perspective correction, enhancement modes, editing, PDF and image export, printing and search are free and unmetered. Metered on the free version, per calendar month: 10 pages of text recognition, 1 passport or ID photo export, and 1 AI photo enhancement. Available only on Pro: ID Card mode, cloud sync, unlimited text recognition and passport photos, and 30 AI enhancements a month. The usage display in Profile is authoritative for your current allowance. Nothing you have already scanned is ever taken away when an allowance runs out or a subscription ends.

5. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly and we do not receive your card details or Apple Account password.

6. AI photo enhancement — fair use

AI photo enhancement is an optional feature that sends a photograph you select to our enhancement service for processing by third-party AI models, as described in the Privacy Policy. Because each enhancement costs us compute, it is subject to a fair-use allowance of 30 enhancements per calendar month on TruScan Pro; the free tier includes one enhancement per calendar month. The in-app usage display is authoritative for your current allowance. We may adjust the allowance for a future billing period with notice in the app, and we may throttle or suspend use that is automated, resold, or otherwise abusive.

Enhancement results are generated by a model and vary. We do not warrant that an enhanced image will be accurate, faithful to the original, or fit for any particular purpose, and an enhanced photograph must not be used where an unaltered image is required — including for a passport, visa, licence or other identity document.

7. Your content

You keep all rights in the documents and photographs you scan. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, transmit and process them to provide the features you have turned on — cloud sync and AI enhancement. We do not use your content to train models and we do not use it for advertising. You are responsible for having the right to scan, store and upload what you scan, including documents containing another person’s information.

If you turn on “Encrypt my library”, we cannot recover your synced scans for you. Your passphrase never reaches us and we hold no copy of it, so we have no way to decrypt what is stored in your account and no way to reset the passphrase. The recovery code shown when you turn the feature on is the only other way in, and keeping it safe is yours to do. If you forget the passphrase and lose the code, the synced copy is permanently unreadable — by you and by us. The library on your device is unaffected.

8. Security of your documents; no legal advice

TruScan is built to keep your documents private: scanning and text recognition run on your device, your library is stored inside your device’s file encryption, cloud sync is optional, and with “Encrypt my library” your synced copies are encrypted with a key only you hold. No method of storing or transmitting information is completely secure, and we do not warrant that your documents will never be accessed, lost, altered or disclosed. In particular:

No legal advice. Nothing in the App, these Terms or our support communications is legal advice. Whether scanning, storing or syncing a particular document is appropriate — and whether doing so could waive a privilege or breach a confidentiality obligation — depends on your circumstances and the law that applies to you. Before you scan, store or sync legal, privileged or otherwise confidential documents, consult a licensed attorney. You are solely responsible for that decision and for meeting any obligation that applies to the documents you scan.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Finn Digital LLC is not liable for any unauthorized access to, or loss, alteration or disclosure of, your documents, except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Section 12’s limitations apply to any claim relating to the security of your documents.

9. Acceptable use

10. No warranty for passport and ID photos, scans or recognized text

TruScan measures a photograph against published specifications (for example head height, eye line, background and dimensions) and reports what it measures. Acceptance is decided solely by the issuing authority — a passport office, consulate, visa centre, licensing agency or equivalent — and requirements change without notice. Finn Digital is not responsible for a rejected application, a rejected photograph, a missed deadline, reprinting costs, travel costs, or any fee paid to any authority.

Likewise, text recognition, document classification, automatic naming and machine-readable-zone reading depend on lighting, camera quality, print quality and the document itself, and may be incomplete or incorrect. Verify anything that matters against the original document.

11. Disclaimer of warranty

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH ALL FAULTS, AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION: MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, OR FREEDOM FROM ERRORS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY SCAN, RECOGNIZED TEXT, ENHANCED IMAGE OR MEASURED PHOTOGRAPH WILL BE ACCURATE OR ACCEPTED BY ANY THIRD PARTY, OR THAT THE APP OR ITS CLOUD FEATURES WILL OPERATE UNINTERRUPTED. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES; THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS APPLY TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Finn Digital LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App and any associated subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the claim. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of documents that matter to you.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account). See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is removed.

We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms or that we determine in good faith to be harmful to other users, third parties, or our service. Sections 6, 8 and 10 through 15 survive termination.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the date on this page and, where practical, announced in the app. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
